Most Instagrammable Places in Paris with the Best View of the Eiffel Tower

1. Trocadéro

When thinking about the most instagrammable places in Paris, many people instantly think about Trocadéro, and for a good reason!

If you’re looking for the best view of the Eiffel Tower, you definitely need to visit Trocadéro, even if you have only one day in Paris. There are countless different angles you can shoot here so try to get creative!

I’m sure you’ve already seen many photos on Instagram when people are standing or sitting on the edge of a platform (like my first 2 photos below) but unfortunately, it’s not possible anymore.

A wooden barrier was built around the platform (you can see it on the third photo below) with fences all around it so you can’t get to that platform.

Don’t let it discourage you, there are still many other photo opportunities at Trocadéro (which are also safer than climbing on the edge)! You can shoot from the middle of the square, climb up to the golden statues or head down to the stairs for example.

Location on Google Maps: Espl. du Trocadéro

How to get there: Getting to Trocadéro is super easy, you just have to take either metro line 6 or 9 and get off at the ‘Trocadéro’ metro station.

Best time to go: Although Trocadéro is pretty big, it’s really popular among tourists, photographers, and locals so it tends to be super busy during the day. If you want to have some photos here without the crowds, try to aim for sunrise!

Chances are you will find some other photographers on the square as well and it’s also a popular spot for wedding photos but since the square is big, there is plenty of space for everyone. The lighting is also the best at sunrise so it’s absolutely worth the early wake-up!

2. Carousel near Trocadéro

You can find a super cute carousel near Trocadéro and if you’re already in the area, it’s worth stopping by for some photos. The carousel is really photogenic in itself but the bonus is that you can have both the Eiffel Tower and the carousel in the frame at the same time which makes it one of the best Instagram spots in Paris.

Location on Google Maps: Trocadéro Carousel

How to get there: Just walk down the stairs from Trocadéro, start walking towards Pont d’léna and you will find the carrousel on the right-hand side of the park, close to the road and the bridge.

Best time to go: If you want to find the street empty, go there in the morning. If you’re planning to go to Trocadéro for sunrise, it’s best to go to the carrousel right after you finished shooting in Trocadéro.

3. Avenue de Camoens

Avenue de Camoens is one of the most instagrammable places in Paris with an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. It’s sort of a hidden gem and not many people go there so if you’re lucky, you can have the place all to yourself.

There is a stairway at the end of the street and this is where you can shoot some amazing Instagram photos with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

Location on Google Maps: Avenue de Camoens

How to get there: The closest metro station is ‘Passy’ where metro line 6 stops and there is the ‘Scheffer’ bus stop for line 32 nearby but you can easily walk to Avenue de Camoens from Trocadéro or Pont d’léna as well.

Best time to go: Since this location is not so popular, you can go any time of the day.

4. Pont d’léna

There are many beautiful bridges on the Seine river but Pont d’léna is one of the most special of all since it’s located right in front of the Eiffel Tower! It’s undoubtedly one of the best Paris Instagram spots and you can shoot many different angles here.

Location on Google Maps: Pont d’léna

How to get there: There are numerous bus stops near the bridge and you can also walk from the ‘léna’ or ‘Trocadéro’ metro stations as well.

Best time to go: If you want to shoot some photos on the bridge itself, try to go there early in the morning otherwise it will be full of people.

However, if you happen to be there in the middle of the day you can just sit on the wall as I did in the below photo! People were coming and going in front of me but with a little bit of patience, you can have a shot without any photobombers.

5. Rue de l’Université

Rue de l’Université is one of the prettiest streets in Paris and as a bonus, you can have a full panoramic view over the Eiffel Tower from the end of the street as well!

Just imagine walking out of your apartment and being greeted by this view every day. A girl can dream, right? But until we can all score a pretty apartment there, we can enjoy taking some photos on the street!

Location on Google Maps: Rue de l’Université

How to get there: You can take the bus nr. 42 and get off at ‘Tour Eiffel’ or if you’re already in the neighborhood, you can just walk there from the Eiffel Tower as well.

Best time to go: The street usually gets super busy during the day so try to go there in the morning. We went there right after Trocadéro and the carrousel and the timing was perfect.

6. Champ de Mars

Champ de Mars is a large public green space located right in front of the Eiffel Tower so it will definitely grant you the best views over the Iron Lady.

It’s a popular place among locals as well so you will find many Parisians having picnics there when the weather is good or just hanging around and catching up with friends.

You can find endless photo opportunities in Champ de Mars, you can shoot an up-close photo with the Eiffel Tower or walk to the end of the park from where you can have the whole tower in your photos.

Location on Google Maps: Champ de Mars

How to get there: Take metro line 8 and get off at the ‘École Militaire’ metro station, from there you can reach the back of the park on foot within 5 minutes. Alternatively, RER C has a stop called ‘Gare Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel’ close to the park and there are numerous bus stops around the park as well.

Best time to go: It depends on what kind of photo are you looking for! The park is mostly empty early in the morning so if you want to have a photo without any people in it, go there early.

If you don’t mind the crowds, sunset is definitely the best time to shoot here as the sun sets behind the Eiffel Tower.

Don’t forget to stay a little bit later to be able to see the sparkling lights on the Eiffel Tower as well!

7. Pont de Bir-Hakeim

Pont de Bir-Hakeim is a two-level bridge on the Seine river from where you can have an awesome view of the Eiffel Tower. Metro line 6 runs on the upper part of the bridge but the lower part is used by cars and motorcycles and as a pedestrian, this is the part where you need to go.

It’s definitely one of the most instagrammable places in Paris, not only because you can shoot photos with the Eiffel Tower in the background but because the bridge itself is really beautiful as well! It was also used as a filming location for many famous movies like Inception.

Bonus tip: If you take metro line 6, you can see the Eiffel Tower from the window and you can also shoot some cool pictures with it. It’s not easy to do it because you can only see the tower for a few seconds but if you manage to catch it, the result will be super cool!

Location on Google Maps: Pont de Bir-Hakeim

How to get there: Metro line 6 stops at both ends of the bridge so you can get off either at ‘Passy’ or ‘Bir-Hakeim’. Alternatively, you can take the bus nr. 72 and get off at ‘Pont de Bir-Hakeim’.

Best time to go: The best time to shoot is early in the morning when there is still no traffic on the bridge.

8. Pont Alexandre III

If you’re looking for the most beautiful bridge in Paris, head over to Pont Alexandre III! No pictures do justice to how beautiful this bridge is in real life, no wonder it’s one of the best Instagram spots in Paris. And if that wasn’t enough, as a bonus, you can see the Eiffel Tower from the bridge as well!

Location on Google Maps: Pont Alexandre III

How to get there: There are numerous bus stops around the bridge and you can also take metro line 8 or 13 and get off at ‘Gare des Invalides’ from where you can walk to the bridge in a few minutes.

Best time to go: Sunset is undoubtedly the best time to shoot on Pont Alexandre III but since it’s a very popular bridge, be prepared for the crowds. If you want to have it all to yourself, head there early in the morning.

+1: Paris Rooftop

If you’re looking for the most instagrammable places in Paris you can consider booking a photoshoot on one of the Parisian rooftops.

I’m listing this opportunity as a plus one because it’s not free to go there and not many people actually do this, but since we’re talking about the best Paris Instagram spots I felt the need to mention it.

There are no public rooftops in Paris so you can’t go there on your own but if you’re dying to get some photos like this you can book a Parisian photographer who has access to one of the rooftops.

I have to mention that getting up to the rooftop is quite tricky and it’s not the safest thing in the world so only do it at your own risk.

We paid 80€ ($94 US) per person for the photoshoot but it can vary based on the location and photographer you choose. We were also able to take photos of each other with our own camera and we had the whole rooftop to ourselves for like 3 hours.

If you’re interested in this, hit me up on Instagram and I can give you the contact to the photographer we worked with.

Other Paris Instagram Spots

9. Petit Palais

Petit Palais is a fine art museum located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris and if you’re a museum lover, you definitely have to include it in your Paris itinerary!

When it comes to photography, the museum is most famous for its beautiful golden door which quickly became one of the most instagrammable places in Paris. Most people take an up-close shot with the door but if you have a wide-angle lens, you can have the whole facade in your photos as well.

Location on Google Maps: Petit Palais

How to get there: The closest metro station is ‘Champs-Élysées – Clemenceau’ where both metro lines 1 and 13 stop. Alternatively, you can take the bus nr. 72 or 93 and get off at ‘Grand Palais’ or just walk to Petit Palais from Pont Alexandre III.

Best time to go: If you want to take a photo with the golden door, go there when the museum is closed. It’s closed on Mondays and public holidays, otherwise, it’s open between 10 am-6 pm so going there either early in the morning or in the evening works perfectly.

10. Arc de Triomphe

Arc de Triomphe is one of the most important national monuments in France and it definitely needs to be on the list of the best Paris Instagram spots. It’s located on the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle where 12 different avenues meet.

It’s not only a beautiful sight to see but you can also go up to the top where you can get a panoramic view over Paris.

The panoramic terrace is open from 10 am until 10.45 pm and an adult ticket costs 13€ ($15 US).

Location on Google Maps: Arc de Triomphe

How to get there: You can find plenty of bus stops and metro stations near Arc de Triomphe.

Best time to go: The roundabout around Arc de Triomphe gets extremely busy during the day and in the evenings so if you want to avoid the heavy traffic, try to go there early.

That being said, you can still shoot some good pictures during the day with a little bit of patience and when it comes to lighting, sunset is the best time for taking pictures at the Arc de Triomphe.

11. Musée du Louvre

Being the world’s largest art museum and one of the most iconic landmarks in Paris, Musée du Louvre doesn’t really need an introduction.

You can see many world-famous artworks in the Louvre like Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, or the Winged Victory of Samothrace and an entrance ticket costs 15€ ($17.5 US) when purchased on site.

It’s a must-see place for every museum and art lover and even if you don’t fancy art, it’s still worth visiting the courtyard of the museum (it’s free to enter).

With the iconic glass pyramids and the insanely beautiful buildings, Musée du Louvre is undoubtedly one of the most instagrammable places in Paris!

There are countless photo opportunities in the courtyard where you can play with the symmetry of the pyramids or frame them with the gates.

Location on Google Maps: Musée du Louvre

How to get there: Take metro line 1 and get off either at ‘Louvre – Rivoli’ or ‘Palais-Royal – Musée du Louvre’.

Best time to go: Since it’s one of the most popular museums in Paris, go there early in the morning before it opens or on Tuesdays when the museum is closed. The courtyard is closed during the nights and it usually opens around 7 am so you can’t go earlier than that.

12. Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel

Did you know that you can find another archway just like the Arc de Triomphe close to the Louvre as well? Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is often overlooked by visitors but I think it deserves to be on the list of the best Paris Instagram spots!

What makes it even more special is that you can create a frame where you can place the Louvre in the middle of the archway. Looks super cool, right?

Location on Google Maps: Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel

How to get there: Take metro line 1 or 7 and get off at ‘Palais-Royal – Musée du Louvre’.

Best time to go: The archway is not as popular as its big brother but it still tends to get crowded during the day. If you’re planning to shoot at the Louvre in the morning, the best is to go to Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel right after that.

13. Palais Royal

No wonder the courtyard of Palais Royal with the black and white striped columns is super popular on Instagram, just look at the pictures below and you will definitely understand why it’s one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris. It looks absolutely amazing and it’s a real heaven for symmetry lovers like me!

The guards in the courtyard don’t always like it when you take photos with a professional camera, especially if you have multiple outfits with you.

It has already happened to us that they said we are not allowed to shoot there and asked us to leave despite there being no sign that states that photography is permitted and many many people take photos there during the day too.

The first time I was there we were shooting for a long time without any problems, the second time we had like 10 minutes before the guard asked us to leave.

So my advice would be to arrive early and be quick with your photos and it will be fine! And even if the guards send you away, you can also go back the next day and try again.

Location on Google Maps: Palais Royal

How to get there: Take metro line 1 or 7 and get off at ‘Palais-Royal – Musée du Louvre’.

Best time to go: Since the courtyard gets busy during the day, try to go there in the morning to avoid the crowds.

14. Sacré-Coeur Basilica

Sacré-Coeur is a beautiful Roman Catholic church and minor basilica located in the heart of Montmartre. It’s one of the most visited churches in Paris and is located on the top of the hill, it offers a beautiful view over the city as well.

Location on Google Maps: Sacré-Coeur Basilica

How to get there: There are several bus and metro stations near the Basilica, the easiest option is to take either metro line 2 and get off at ‘Anvers’ or metro line 12 and get off at ‘Abbesses’. From there you can either take a funicular up to Sacré-Coeur or just walk up on the stairs.

Best time to go: If you want to have the Basilica all to yourself, go there early in the morning otherwise it will be impossible to take a proper shot without the crowds.

15. Rue Maurice Utrillo

The stairway leading down on Rue Maurice Utrillo is often overlooked by tourists but with the beautiful view and the colorful houses on the side, it grants a gorgeous backdrop to every photo. If you’re visiting the Sacré-Coeur Basilica it’s definitely worth stopping by for a quick photo!

Location on Google Maps: Rue Maurice Utrillo

How to get there: Getting there is super easy, just take the stairway on the right side of the Basilica, walk across the road and you will already see this beautiful stairway in front of you!

Best time to go: It’s not a popular Instagram spot so it’s best to go there after you’ve finished shooting at the other spots in Montmartre.

16. Carrousel de Saint-Pierre

If you love carrousels, you’re gonna love this spot! There is another carousel in Montmartre, close to the Sacré-Coeur where you can have a photo with the Basilica in the background. It totally deserves to be on the list of the most Instagrammable places in Paris, am I right?

Location on Google Maps: Carrousel de Saint-Pierre

How to get there: Take either metro line 2 and get off at ‘Anvers’ or metro line 2 and get off at ‘Abbesses’, from there you can reach the carrousel within a few minutes walk.

Best time to go: This spot is usually quieter than the place in front of the Basilica so you can go basically any time of the day.

17. Le Consulat

Montmartre is one of the most charming and romantic districts of Paris. The area is full of cute narrow alleys, talented street artists, and amazing cafes and restaurants.

Le Consulat is one of the most famous restaurants in the area and by looking at its authentic Parisian-style facade, there is no wonder why it’s often listed as one of the best Paris Instagram spots.

Since it’s a fully working restaurant, you can stop by for a quick lunch or dinner as well. We’ve also tried it once and while it’s a super cute place, sadly I was not blown away by the food but I guess this is totally subjective.

Location on Google Maps: Le Consulat

How to get there: Take the bus nr. 40 and get off either at ‘Place du Tertre – Norvins’ or ‘Mont Cenis – Cortot’. Alternatively, you can go the same way as you would go to the Sacre-Coeur and walk from there, the restaurant is only a 5-minute walk from the Basilica.

Best time to go: It depends on what kind of vibe you’re looking for. If you don’t want to have any other people in your photos, go there before 11 am when the restaurant opens. But if you’re looking for a photo with a true Parisian vibe, go there in the middle of the day!

18. La Maison Rose

The cute little pink building of La Maison Rose is one of the most popular Instagram spots in Paris and you can’t miss it if you’re visiting Montmartre. Since it’s a working restaurant, you can also have a meal there!

Location on Google Maps: La Maison Rose

How to get there: Take the bus nr. 40 and get off at ‘Saules – Cortot’. Alternatively, you can go the same way as you would go to the Sacre-Coeur and walk from there, the restaurant is only a 5-minute walk from the Basilica.

Best time to go: Try to get there in the morning when the restaurant is still closed and the street is quieter. I’ve heard some rumors that the owner of the restaurant doesn’t really like it when people take pictures there so try to be quick with your photos! I personally didn’t have any problems but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

19. Lamarck-Caulaincourt

How can it be that even the metro stations are super photogenic in Paris?! Okay, not all of them, but you can create many amazing photos with the super cool Metropolitan sign all over the city.

One of the most beautiful metro stations is located at Lamarck-Caulaincourt where you can have the perfect backdrop for an authentic Parisian photo.

2024 update: Sadly the restaurant on the corner has changed owners and it no longer has the red and white colors. It’s still a very beautiful spot though, just not as Parisian as it once was.

Location on Google Maps: Lamarck-Caulaincourt

How to get there: Take metro line 12 and get off at ‘Lamarck-Caulaincourt’ metro station. After that just walk up the stairs and you will find yourself at the exact same spot you can see in the below photos.

Best time to go: If you don’t mind having other people in your photos you can go any time of the day, otherwise try to be there early in the morning (or use Photoshop to remove the people just like I did on the first photo).

20. Moulin Rouge

Moulin Rouge is another famous landmark in the city and with its iconic red windmill on the roof, it’s undoubtedly one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris.

The cabaret was the birthplace of the modern form of can-can dance and if you’re interested you can see a musical performance and have dinner inside as well.

Location on Google Maps: Moulin Rouge

How to get there: Take metro line 2 and get off at ‘Blanche’ metro station.

Best time to go: If you don’t want any cars on the street, try to go in the morning when the traffic is not so heavy.

21. Notre-Dame

Notre Dame is one of the most famous Gothic cathedrals from the Middle Ages and it’s one of the most iconic landmarks in Paris. Although a huge part of Notre Dame was destroyed in a fire in April 2019, the good news is that the west facade remained intact.

As the rest of the cathedral is under construction now, this is the only angle from which you can still shoot a picture of this beautiful masterpiece.

Location on Google Maps: Notre-Dame

How to get there: There are many metro stations and bus stops nearby, the closest metro station is ‘Cité’ where metro line 4 stops.

Best time to go: You can go any time of the day, it’s pretty easy to shoot there if you have a little bit of patience.

22. Odette Paris

If you’re looking for the cutest pastry shop in Paris, stop by Odette! The adorable shopfront makes it one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris and the cream puffs are also super delicious.

Although you can snap a quick photo without buying anything, I honestly recommend trying the cream puffs and having a little coffee break here.

Location on Google Maps: Odette Paris

How to get there: There are several metro stations and bus stops nearby and you can easily walk there from Notre Dame as well.

Best time to go: You can go any time of the day, they are usually open between 10 am-7.30 pm.

23. Rue Crémieux

Rue Crémieux is one of the prettiest streets in Paris with colorful houses lining up on each side of the street. In recent years it has become one of the most popular Instagram spots in Paris but please keep in mind that there are people living there so try to respect their privacy and be quick with your photos.

Location on Google Maps: Rue Crémieux

How to get there: Take metro line 1 or 14 and get off at ‘Paris Gare de Lyon’ or alternatively you can find several bus stops nearby.

Best time to go: The street usually gets busy during the day so it’s best to go in the morning.

24. Jardin des Plantes

Jardin des Plantes is a beautiful botanical garden in the heart of Paris. It contains several different gardens, archives, libraries, and greenhouses and it’s also home to a zoo and the National Museum of National History.

The best part is that the garden is free to access so it’s definitely worth dropping by if you’re looking for the most instagrammable places in Paris. You can never go wrong with flowers on Instagram, am I right?

Location on Google Maps: Jardin des Plantes

How to get there: Take metro line 7 or 10 and get off at ‘Jussieu’ or take bus nr. 67 or 89 and get off at ‘Cuvier – Jardin des Plantes’.

Best time to go: If you want to avoid the crowds go there in the morning, otherwise you can go any time of the day.

25. Disneyland Paris

Disneyland is usually not the first one that comes to mind when thinking about the most instagrammable places in Paris but since the whole park is really beautiful and it’s full of great photo opportunities it’s totally worth putting it on your list!

The colorful buildings and pretty gardens grant a beautiful backdrop for photos, not to mention Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in the middle of the park!

Disneyland is one of the most popular day trips from Paris and even if you’re an adult and you’re traveling without kids, I’m sure you will enjoy spending your day at one of the parks in Disneyland.

There are actually two different parks located right next to each other: Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park.

Ticket prices vary based on the number of parks you want to visit and the selected dates. If you want to visit only one park, you can get a ticket between 59-82€, while visiting both parks will cost you between 79-109€.

Location on Google Maps: Disneyland Paris

How to get there: The easiest option to visit Disneyland from Paris is to take the RER A train which departs from Gare de Lyon Paris and goes directly to Disneyland. The journey takes around 1 hour and since Disneyland is located in Zone 5, if you have a Navigo pass or a day ticket for all the 5 zones, the fare is already included in your pass.

Best time to go: Both parks open at 9.30 am and since it usually gets super crowded during the day, try to get there around opening time. Weekdays are usually quieter than weekends and if you stay in one of the Disney Hotels, you can visit the park one hour before the official opening time.

  1. We love Paris so much, it’s such a beautiful city. Hopefully we can go there again later this year and otherwise next year. We’ve visited quite some of these spots but there are some we’ve never visited, so thank you for that! Will keep them in mind for our next Paris trip. Sad they’ve built fences on the Trocadéro platform, but the area is still great for photo opportunities indeed.

  9. Nice photos but selling outfits on them is a bust for me, ruins the photos which were made only to sell clothes and looked prearranged, unnatural. Low.

    Reply
    • I’m sorry if you feel that way but the photos were not made to sell clothes. I always receive a ton of questions about where did I buy my clothes so I figured it’s just easier if I put it in the post.

  10. I don’t get this mentality. You go to one of the most beautiful places on earth and waste your time taking photos of yourself? Seems monumentally narcissitic.

    • I was lucky to spend almost 2 weeks in Paris already and planning to go back soon again, so I had plenty of time for sightseeing and taking photos 🙂 Apart from that, we usually spend the early mornings taking photos and the rest of the day exploring the city. I’m a blogger and a content creator so this is my job, and I don’t think there is anything wrong with it.

  11. Drone in Paris can only be used with authorisation. Lifestyle photographer and bloggers never get this kind of authorisation, so despite please mention that in your equipment list unless you want someone to get the wrong impression that it is possible and legal, unless that want to get their drone confiscated and leave Paris with a 15k€ fine.

I didn’t read your text, but also should mention that 90% of these photos were taken on sunrise and as you shot on different locations, I am certain that you spend many morning visiting in different spots in order to have them clean from people and enjoy the morning golden hour.
In fact I am sure these photos are not from the same visit since on one photo you have a 2021/2 photo from Place du Trocadero, which is under ongoing renovation (the wood fence in the photo is very recent) and on another photo we can see the Notre-Dame de Paris before it got burnt in 2019…
It is important to mention that so people won’t have false expectation to get all this in one or to days.
Also, in some spots like Rue Crémieux (the colourful houses street) bloggers like yourself got on the street tenant nervous and they now forbid shooting there.
There are building with sign that explain that they owners forbid to so and they even opened an instagram where they upload videos and photos of people who take picture there and mock their “natural look” Instagram photos that are achieved with a lot of work.
So once again, you encourage something that is illegal or at least undesired by locals.

Paris Rooftop photography – beautiful, highly illegal and dangerous AF.
A photographer who charge 90€ for a person is a Airbnb experience who is unlicensed and uninsured to do this attraction.

Lastly, the Eiffel Tower light show takes place only after dark and never on daylight..

Your pictures are candy to the eye, but you can’t publish so many inaccuracies not mentioning illegal information in the name of self documenting and likes.

    • 1. I have never ever used a drone in Paris nor do I have any drone pictures in my article so thank you for the information but I don’t see the relevance to this article.
      2. Well, maybe you should have read the text before judging because at the best time to go sections I always recommend when to go shooting. And yes, most of the time this is either sunrise or sunset because as you said, the lighting is the best.
      3. When did I ever say that all these photos were taken during the same trip? I’ve visited Paris 2 times so far and included photos from both of my trips. I will be going back soon and yes, I will include photos from my third trip as well. I don’t see what is wrong with this.
      4. Again, I’ve never said that I shot all the photos in one or two days.
      5. Yes, I know about Rue Cremieux and I also mentioned this in my text – maybe you should have read it before accusing me.
      6. I know how dangerous rooftop photography is, that’s why I didn’t include any specific information about it. But whether you like it or not, people still want to do this and it’s totally up to them whether they choose to go or not.
      7. I’m very well aware that Eiffel Tower only sparkles during the evening, I don’t know why did you assume I don’t know this.
      8. Anyways, thank you for taking the time to lecture me but maybe next time you should take this time to actually read what I’m writing about. Thank you!
