Hotel Review: Invisible Forest Lodge (Lapland, Finland)
Tucked away in the forest just a 10-minute drive from Rovaniemi, Invisible Forest Lodge offers a peaceful escape while still being close to the city. The lodge has three different types of accommodations, each designed to offer a unique stay surrounded by nature.
We spent two nights here – one in an Invisible Suite and the other in an Aurora Hut – getting to experience both the comfort of a private cabin and the feeling of being fully immersed in the Arctic landscape. In this review, we’ll share our thoughts on the accommodations, spa, and dining to help you decide if Invisible Forest Lodge is the right fit for your trip.

Location
Invisible Forest Lodge is set in a quiet forested area, just a 10-minute drive from the center of Rovaniemi. The location offers the best of both worlds – it feels secluded and peaceful, yet it’s close enough to the city for easy access to restaurants, shops, and activities.
One of the biggest highlights of staying here is the proximity to Santa Claus Village, which is only a 10-minute drive away. As one of the best things to do in Lapland, it’s a must-visit for those wanting to meet Santa, send postcards from the official Santa Claus Post Office, or cross the Arctic Circle.
If you’re flying in, Rovaniemi Airport is just a short taxi ride away, making it easy to reach the lodge. For those renting a car, free parking is available on-site, which is a convenient option if you plan to explore more of Lapland during your stay.
Accommodation
Invisible Forest Lodge offers three different types of accommodations, each designed to provide a unique stay in the heart of Lapland.
The Invisible Suites are spacious and modern, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, a private sauna, and an outdoor hot tub. For those looking for a more adventurous experience, the Aurora Huts are compact glass igloos that offer stunning panoramic views of the snowy landscape.
There’s also a Log Cabin, which provides a traditional Lappish stay with cozy interiors and a rustic atmosphere.
During our visit, we stayed in both an Invisible Suite and an Aurora Hut, allowing us to experience two very different sides of the lodge. Below, we’ll share our thoughts on each.
Invisible Suite
The Invisible Suite is the most spacious and comfortable option at Invisible Forest Lodge. With floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the forest, it feels completely immersed in nature while still offering modern amenities.
The suite is designed as a studio-style cabin with an open layout, featuring a cozy sitting area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a dining space.
One of the highlights is the private sauna and outdoor hot tub, which makes it the perfect place to relax after a day in the snow. The bathroom also has a walk-in shower and heated floors, adding an extra level of comfort.
Since the suite has a full kitchen, it’s a great option if you prefer to cook some of your own meals.
We really enjoyed our stay here – the space felt warm and inviting, and having our own private sauna was a huge plus. If you’re looking for a mix of nature and luxury, this is a great choice.
Aurora Hut
The Aurora Hut offers a completely different kind of experience. These compact glass igloos are designed for two people and provide panoramic views of the Arctic sky. In winter, they sit on the frozen river or in the forest, while in the summer and autumn months, they float on water.
The space inside is extremely small, so it’s best to pack light. We recommend leaving bigger suitcases at the reception and only bringing a small backpack with your essentials.
The hut is equipped with heating, a toilet, and a small sink with drinkable cold water, but there’s no shower, which is something to keep in mind when booking.
Outside, there’s a private deck with a fire pit and a hot tub, adding a nice touch to the experience. We loved soaking in the warm water while watching the sunset, it was definitely one of the most memorable moments of our stay!
While the Aurora Hut is a unique and fun experience, we’d only recommend booking it for one night max due to the limited space and lack of a shower. It’s best suited for those who want to fully immerse themselves in nature for a night before moving on to more spacious accommodations.
Invisible Spa
The Invisible Spa offers a dedicated relaxation experience with a Wave Sauna, outdoor hot tubs, and a sauna lounge set in a peaceful forest setting. You can book the Arctic Spa Experience, which includes two hours of access to these facilities, along with bathrobes, towels, and slippers.
For a full evening experience, there’s also the Bathrobe Dinner option, which combines the spa session with a three-course meal at the on-site restaurant. After unwinding in the sauna and hot tubs, you can head straight to dinner in your bathrobe and enjoy a meal that starts with a buffet-style selection of starters, followed by a main course and dessert.
We didn’t try the spa ourselves, as every Invisible Suite already comes with a private sauna and hot tub, and even the Aurora Huts have their own outdoor hot tubs.
Because of that, the extra cost for the spa didn’t seem necessary for us, but it might be a good option if you’re not staying at the hotel or just want to explore more of the property’s facilities.

Invisible Restaurant
Invisible Forest Lodge has an on-site restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner daily.
For dinner, there are two dining options: a three-course dinner with a starter buffet, a choice of main course (with four options), and a dessert buffet, or the hot stone dinner, where you can cook your own meat or fish on a heated lava stone at the table.
Since we didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant for dinner, we can’t comment on the food, but we did have the included breakfast.
The buffet had a surprisingly good selection, offering a variety of bread, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, and more. The quality of the food was also great, making it a satisfying way to start the day before heading out to explore.
Final Thoughts
Invisible Forest Lodge offers a peaceful escape just outside Rovaniemi, with unique accommodations that let you experience Lapland’s nature in different ways.
The Invisible Suite felt like the most comfortable choice, with plenty of space, a private sauna, and an outdoor hot tub, while the Aurora Hut provided a more adventurous stay with its compact design and panoramic views.
The on-site spa and restaurant add extra options for relaxation and dining, though we personally didn’t feel the need to use the spa since each suite already comes with a sauna and hot tub.
Overall, this is a great option if you’re looking for a stylish and private stay in Lapland, whether you want a cozy cabin experience or a night under the Arctic sky.
