Best Luxury Hotels in Amsterdam
1. Conservatorium Hotel
Located across from the famous Museum Quarter is the wonderful 5-star Conservatorium Hotel. This is one of my favorite areas in Amsterdam as there is so much to do, from the world-famous Van Gogh Museum to the grand Royal Concert Hall.
The facilities here are equally as great as the location. Guests will get to enjoy a fancy wellness space, a fully equipped gym, a Watsu pool, a Hamman, a sauna, and two restaurants serving an extensive range of delicious dishes.
If you’re in the mood for a nightcap, head to the hotel’s Taiko Bar, famed for its Asian-style cocktails and tasty mixed drinks.
Your modern guestroom here will be designed with sophisticated touches, dim lighting features, and dark hardwood floors. One of my favorite aspects is the travertine stone bathrooms with a walk-in rain shower and expansive soaking tub.
2. De L’Europe Amsterdam
Next up on the list of the top luxury Amsterdam hotels is the well-known De L’Europe Amsterdam, housed in an ancient medieval fortress perched up along the banks of the Amstel River.
Since De L’Europe Amsterdam is a 5-star hotel, you can already guess that the facilities here are superb. The property boasts five unique restaurants, a bar, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a modern “Technogym,” a spa center, a hot tub, and a free airport shuttle for all guests.
If you choose De L’Europe Amsterdam as your base, you’ll get to choose between 13 room options. All have their own mini-bars, extra large double beds with Coco-mat mattresses, a Bose surround system, and access to Apple TV.
3. Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht
Situated in an old library, the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is a lifestyle hotel in the center of the city’s canal belt. It’s only a 15-minute walk from busy areas like Jordaan and Museumplein. If you want to go a bit further afield, Rokin metro station is 750 meters away.
Visitors will have access to the Bluespoon restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a bar overlooking the Prinsengracht canal, and a massage treatment area.
You can book all your experiences here at the concierge desk, from local bike tours to days out in nearby cities.
The rooms here really are spectacular. They’ve been carefully designed by the famous Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, with floor-to-ceiling windows, open-concept bathrooms, a free mini bar, and a Nespresso machine.
If you’re looking for Amsterdam hotels with epic canal views, the Andaz is definitely one of the top contenders!
4. Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel
Dating back to the 17th century, the Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel is rumored to be the oldest hotel in the city. It lies in the medieval center, only a ten-minute walk from Dam Square.
There’s a wide variety of facilities available at the Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel. Some of them include an upmarket restaurant, paid parking zones, a massage treatment room, and a tour desk.
If you’re planning to travel with young kids, the Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel also provides a babysitting service so you can treat yourself to some much-needed alone time.
The 81 guest suites here are just one of the reasons why this spot is one of the best luxury hotels in Amsterdam. They’re styled in vintage fashion and have many brilliant amenities like soundproofed walls, wide-screen TVs with satellite channels, pillow menus, and complimentary Lalique toiletries.
5. Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam
There’s no debate that the Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky is one of the top luxury hotels in Amsterdam. It’s nicely placed across from the Royal Palace on the edge of Dam Square. You’ll really hit the jackpot with this location.
You’ll have access to a nice mix of guest suites at Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky; some sleep two, while others can cater to up to four guests.
The room’s amenities are impressive, with elegant decor, parquet floors, private en suite bathrooms with walk-in showers, air conditioning units, and wall-mounted TVs.
Two restaurants are open for guests to use onsite, one of which is Michelin-starred. I advise you to reserve your table ahead of time because tables book up fast.
6. W Amsterdam
The trendy W Amsterdam sits next to Dam Square and within walking distance of all the best sights like the Anne Frank House, Rembrandt House, and the National Monument.
W Amsterdam is teeming with facilities for guests to use, like four restaurants, two of which are Michelin-starred, two swimming pools, a canal-view fitness center, a modern spa, and a meeting facility.
The rooftop swimming pool is absolutely epic, so if you’re looking for the best Amsterdam hotels with pools, you can’t go wrong with W Amsterdam.
If you’re not yet sold, one of the 238 rooms will surely pique your interest with its W-signature beds in 400-thread count sheets, complimentary W toiletries, sofas, and charming courtyard views from the windows.
7. Hotel Okura Amsterdam
Experience a taste of Japan in Amsterdam at the Hotel Okura, a property offering Omotenashi, a form of Japanese hospitality. It’s based in the hip neighborhood of De Pijp, only 1 km (0.6 miles) from the Heineken Experience.
Use some of your time trying traditional Japanese cuisine at one of the hotel’s four restaurants. Once you’ve had a feed, you can take a break in the wellness center, relishing a manicure, massage, pedicure, or body treatment.
While all the guestrooms are truly beautiful at the Hotel Okura, the Executive Room deserves special mention. It’s furnished exactly like a quintessential Japanese Minka with a contemporary flair.
You can expect plenty of great amenities, too, like an Eastborn bed, a sumptuous bathroom with a rain shower and bathtub, and a desk area if you need to catch up on some work.
8. Hotel TwentySeven
With a clear view of the capital’s Royal Palace, the Hotel TwentySeven is another one of the best luxury hotels in Amsterdam.
A stay here sets you up nicely for exploring the city; Madame Tussaud’s is 40 meters away, Dam Square is only around the corner, and the Allard Pierson Museum can be walked to in six minutes.
One of Hotel TwentySeven’s coolest facilities is its bar, which sells these delicious pro-biotic cocktails; they’re unlike anything I have ever tasted before. Additionally, you’ll find a Michelin-star restaurant, a hot tub, and a concierge desk.
All the rooms at Hotel TwentySeven have their own distinct character and a selection of amenities like oak wooden floors, ambiance lighting, temperature-controlled wine coolers, and marble bathrooms.
I almost forgot to mention that Hotel TwentySeven is completely pet-friendly, so your puppy doesn’t have to stay at home!
9. The Dylan Amsterdam
The Dylan is one of the best luxury hotels in Amsterdam with canal views. It lies along the side of the Keizersgracht Canal, which runs through the outskirts of the main center. Some of the main attractions nearby include the Houseboat Museum, the Anne Frank House, and Rembrandtplein.
At the Dylan, there are numerous impressive facilities like the Vinkeles restaurant, which is housed in an 18th-century bakery, a gym center, a massage service, and a tranquil garden with a terrace which is the perfect place for sipping your coffee in the morning.
A premium catalog of guestrooms is available at the Dylan. If you want to really go all out, I suggest you book the Junior Suite with a canal view, which offers a choice of a large queen-sized bed or a twin bed, a gorgeous bathroom with a bathtub and Aesop toiletries, and an Illy espresso machine.
10. Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam
The Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam can be found beside the Herengracht Canal system, a truly beautiful location near the bustling Rembrandtplein Square, the PC Hooftstraat shopping street, and the Skinny Bridge.
With a huge range of facilities at Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, like the Guerlain spa, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, three treatment rooms, and two restaurants, you’ll never have to go outside the front door unless you’re doing some sightseeing.
Each custom-decorated room here features views of the nearby canals, Dutch elements, Waldorf Astoria king-sized beds, private kitchenettes, mini bars, and en-suite bathrooms. Some of them even come with a toasty fireplace, which would be great in the winter, especially since it’s Amsterdam.
11. Pestana Amsterdam Riverside
If you’re after a cheap deal on a luxury hotel while you’re in the Dutch capital, look no further than the Pestana Amsterdam Riverside.
What was once one of the city’s main landmarks, the previous Town Hall and Archive of the Amstel Community, has since been transformed into a premium 154-bedroom property.
Housed near the Heineken Experience, Skinny Bridge, and Rembrandtplein, you’ll never have to walk too far to reach the city’s must-visit places.
The Pestana Amsterdam Riverside has a swimming pool, secure valet parking, a spa, a restaurant with a patio garden, ten meeting rooms, two saunas, and breakfast can be added to your booking for a fair price.
Plenty of different room types are available here. The most expensive option is the Master Presidential Suite with four bedrooms, 6-meter-high ceilings, wooden floors, and king-sized beds.
If you don’t need four bedrooms but still want a splurge, consider the Clock Tower Suite, which features a free-standing tub, a Mezzanine floor, and much more.
12. Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam
The Sofitel Legend, The Grand Amsterdam, is embedded between two of the city’s most stunning canals deep in the historical quarter. Popular areas like Dam Square and Nine Streets are only a 5-minute walk away.
Prepare yourself to be blown away by the rooms here. They boast chic decorations, double Sofitel MyBeds, working desks, Nespresso machines, and complimentary bath robes and slippers. If you opt for one of the suites, you’ll be treated to a butler service.
Right onsite are a broad range of facilities, such as two fine dining restaurants, a spa and fitness center, an indoor swimming pool, a Hamman, and a garden and terrace.
There’s also a bar called “The Hidden Dutchman,” which is super cozy and serves some of the tastiest beers brewed around Amsterdam, as well as some nice whiskeys and other spirits.
13. InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam
Last but not least, the list of the best luxury hotels in Amsterdam wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the InterContinental Amstel.
This luxury 5-star accommodation has been serving guests since 1867 and still holds its timeless charm to this day. It also features a convenient location with the Jewish Historical Museum, Artis Zoo, and Hortusplantsoen, all close by. As you arrive, you’ll be met by a team of welcoming staff at the vintage check-in center.
After settling in, it’s time to use some of the facilities. Some of these include a health club with spa and steam baths, a sauna, a gym with modern cardio machines, a restaurant that serves afternoon tea on the weekend, and a bar with views of the Amstel River.
Every guestroom has a classy look with old-world antiques, exquisite interiors, fully stocked mini-bars, complimentary robes, pillow menus, a satellite TV, iPod docking stations, and electric kettles. As a cute little touch, they provide guests with some free chocolates.
