Arriving at Boutique Hotel Glacier
Located just steps away from the Grindelwald train station, Boutique Hotel Glacier is easily accessible for both domestic and international travelers.
The hotel’s prime location also makes it a convenient base for exploring nearby attractions such as the Jungfraujoch, the First Cliff Walk by Tissot, or the charming village of Lauterbrunnen.
In the summer, the area is perfect for hiking and in the winter, you can hit the slopes located just a few minutes from the hotel.
Boutique Hotel Glacier offers free complimentary parking for guests arriving by car, making it a great option if you’re planning a road trip in Switzerland.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the friendly staff who gave us a warm welcome and helped us with our luggage. Check-in was a breeze and they even offered us complimentary welcome drinks as we waited for our room to be prepared.
The lobby area was cozy and elegantly decorated, setting the tone for what was to come during our stay.
Room Types
Boutique Hotel Glacier has a total of 28 rooms, each uniquely designed with a modern alpine feel.
Here’s a quick overview of the three different room types available (there are also different variations within each category):
- Double Rooms: This room type is ideal for couples or solo travelers, with a comfortable double bed and all the necessary amenities for a cozy stay. This is the cheapest room option available at Boutique Hotel Glacier and these are located on the northern side of the hotel, facing the village.
- Eigerview Rooms: As the name suggests, these rooms feature stunning views of the Eiger Mountain, offering a breathtaking backdrop for your stay. These rooms also have a balcony, perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or tea while taking in the magnificent scenery.
- Signature Rooms: For the ultimate luxury experience, opt for a Signature Room. The unique selling point of these rooms is the hot tub on the balcony, offering a private and unforgettable way to relax and take in the stunning mountain views.
What really makes Boutique Hotel Glacier stand out is that you can select from many additional services no matter which room type you choose.
These include flower decorations, birthday or honeymoon packages, and even a private spa session with floating champagne or fruits. Talk about a romantic getaway!
Signature Rooms
Among the accommodations at Boutique Hotel Glacier, the Signature Rooms are the most luxurious and highly sought after. These rooms feature the iconic hot tubs on the balcony that you’ve probably already seen a bunch of times on social media.
With only five Signature Rooms available, it’s recommended to book in advance if you’re interested in experiencing this one-of-a-kind room type.
While the interior of the Signature Rooms is identical, the two rooms on the sides (Signature Room Sunrise and Signature Room Sunset) have bigger outdoor spaces with an additional lounge area.
All Signature Rooms have a comfortable king-size bed with COCOMAT mattress, a seating area, a wardrobe, and a spacious bathroom with a rain shower. You can find Rituals skincare products in each bathroom, which are also available for purchase at the hotel’s reception.
The rooms also include modern amenities such as a flat-screen TV with Apple TV, a Nespresso coffee machine, a Marshall Bluetooth box, and free high-speed Wi-Fi.
The best part of the Signature Rooms, of course, is the hot tub on the balcony. It’s truly a unique experience to soak in the warm water while taking in the stunning views of the Swiss Alps.
As I mentioned, you can ask for your room to be decorated with fresh flowers, rose petals, or candles.
You can also request a special birthday or honeymoon package for an extra romantic touch. It’s truly the perfect setting for a special occasion or just a romantic escape!
Facilities
Spa and wellness
After a long day of exploring the Swiss Alps, there’s no better way to relax and unwind than at Boutique Hotel Glacier’s spa and wellness area.
Here you can find a log-lined sauna, a hammam, a relaxation area with comfy waterbeds, and a heated outdoor pool with stunning mountain views. Relaxing in the pool while surrounded by snow-capped mountains is an experience you won’t forget!
The hotel also offers a variety of massages that can be booked in advance.
We highly recommend booking a private spa session for ultimate relaxation. You can enjoy the facilities all to yourself and even request champagne or fruits to be served while you relax in the outdoor whirlpool.
Gym
For those who want to stay active during their trip, Boutique Hotel Glacier also has a small gym with modern equipment.
There is a treadmill, an indoor bike, yoga mats, and weights available for guests to use. The gym is open from 7 am to 10 pm so you can easily fit in a workout before or after your day of exploring.
Dining
Breakfast
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and Boutique Hotel Glacier does not disappoint in this department.
The breakfast buffet offers a wide selection of fresh bread, croissants, pastries, cereals, yogurts, cheeses, meats, eggs, fruits, juices, and hot drinks. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented.
You can enjoy your breakfast inside the cozy breakfast room or outside on the terrace overlooking the mountains. It’s a great way to start your day and take in the stunning scenery.
Although the hotel doesn’t offer room service, you are free to take some fruit or pastries with you to your room for a quiet morning in.
Petite Glacier Restaurant
For lunch and dinner, you can dine at the hotel’s Petite Glacier restaurant. The restaurant offers an a la carte menu in a casual yet elegant setting.
The menu features traditional Swiss dishes as well as international cuisine, all made with locally sourced ingredients. Besides the regular menu items, there are also daily changing specials depending on the season and availability of fresh produce.
During the summer months, you can also dine on the terrace while enjoying the warm weather and stunning views.
We had dinner here both nights during our stay and were impressed by the quality of the food and service. The staff was friendly and accommodating, making sure we had a great dining experience.
The dishes are on the smaller side so you can easily eat through a three-course meal but this only means you can try more of their delicious options!
The duck leg confit was a real standout and you also can’t miss the brownie with caramel sauce. It was so good that we ended up ordering it both nights!
Glacier Fine Dining
For a truly special dining experience, you can also book a table at the hotel’s Glacier Fine Dining restaurant.
This intimate and exclusive restaurant offers a 5 or 7-course gourmet menu with wine pairings. The menu changes seasonally and features innovative dishes made with local and organic ingredients.
The atmosphere is elegant yet cozy, making it the perfect setting for a romantic dinner or celebratory meal.
Unfortunately, the restaurant is only open from Thursday to Monday so we didn’t have a chance to try it during our stay. But, based on the quality of food and service at Petite Glacier restaurant, we have no doubt that it would be an exceptional dining experience.
Final Thoughts
