During our stay, we had the chance to experience two different igloo types (the Prime Superior Igloo and the Suite Igloo), giving us a taste of both the premium and most luxurious options. In this review, we’ll share what it was like to stay here, from the accommodations and dining to the overall atmosphere of Levin Iglut.

Location
Levin Iglut sits on a quiet fell, about 10 kilometers from Levi’s town center. Its elevated position not only provides breathtaking views but also minimizes light pollution, making it an excellent spot to see the northern lights.
If you’re flying into Lapland, the closest airport is Kittilä Airport, just a 20-minute drive from the hotel. We highly recommend renting a car, as it gives you the flexibility to explore the area at your own pace.
However, if that’s not an option, you can arrange a taxi or book a private transfer directly through the hotel. Free parking is available for all guests, making it easy for those with a rental car to come and go as they please.
Levi is one of the best ski regions in Lapland, and the ski slopes are super close to the hotel. You can even see them from the property, making it a great choice for anyone planning to hit the slopes!
The town center is full of great restaurants, cafés, and shops, so there’s plenty to do when you’re not out exploring.
Levin Iglut is a family-owned hotel, and you can feel that personal touch in the way everything is run. The staff are warm and accommodating, and the overall atmosphere is much more intimate than a large chain hotel.
Accommodation
Levin Iglut offers four different types of accommodations, each designed to provide a unique experience in the Arctic wilderness.
The superior igloos are the smallest option, while the prime superior igloos offer a more premium experience with better views. The suite igloo is the most luxurious, with added space and a private outdoor hot tub.
For larger groups, there’s also the northern lights house, a standalone accommodation with two suites, a spacious living area, a private sauna, and a hot tub.
During our stay, we spent one night in a prime superior igloo and another in a suite igloo, giving us the chance to experience both.

Prime Superior Igloo
Even though the prime superior igloo isn’t the largest option at Levin Iglut, it’s still much bigger than any other glass igloo we’ve stayed in across Lapland. Right away, we noticed how much more spacious it felt compared to other similar accommodations, which made it a lot more comfortable to move around and settle in.
The design is all about making the most of the views, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls that give you an uninterrupted look at the sky and the snowy landscape. The adjustable bed is a nice touch, letting you find the perfect angle for relaxing and stargazing.
There’s also a small seating area, a private bathroom with a shower, and handy extras like a mini fridge, coffee and tea station, bathrobes, and slippers.
One thing to note is that the shower runs on limited hot water – you’ll get about 15 minutes of hot water at a time, and then it takes roughly two hours to regenerate. It wasn’t an issue for us, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning longer showers.
Suite Igloo
We were absolutely speechless when we stepped into the suite igloo – this was by far the best glass igloo we’ve ever stayed in!
Everything about it felt luxurious, from the spacious interior to the high-end details, but the real highlight was the private terrace with the outdoor hot tub.
Soaking in the warm water while surrounded by snow was an unforgettable experience, and we were lucky enough to even witness the northern lights right from the hot tub! The views from both inside the igloo and the terrace were out of this world.
The layout is similar to the prime superior igloo but with added space and upgraded amenities. The seating area is larger, the bathroom feels more spacious, and there’s extra storage, making it even more comfortable for longer stays.
The adjustable bed remains a standout feature, letting you find the perfect angle for taking in the panoramic views.
With only three suite igloos available, it’s definitely worth booking well in advance if you want to stay here. It’s the ultimate way to experience Levin Iglut in style, and if you’re looking for something extra special, this is the one to go for.

Northern Lights
One of the biggest reasons to stay at Levin Iglut is the chance to see the northern lights right from your igloo. Thanks to the hotel’s elevated location on the fell, there’s minimal light pollution, giving you a clear view of the sky when the aurora is active.
The heated glass roof ensures that frost won’t obstruct your view, so you can watch for the lights without stepping outside into the cold.
Levin Iglut also has one of the best aurora tracking systems we’ve seen at any Lapland hotel. The Northern Lights Alert app is directly connected to a camera mounted on top of the main building.
Whenever the camera detects aurora activity, the app sends a real-time alert straight to your phone, so you don’t have to keep checking the sky or rely on general forecasts. This was a game-changer for us, as we didn’t have to guess whether the lights were out and we knew exactly when to step outside.
We were lucky enough to see the northern lights both nights during our stay, and on the first night, we had a funny little moment with the alert system.
We had an early dinner at the restaurant and had just finished our mains, waiting for dessert, when the alert went off. Without hesitation, we rushed outside mid-meal, and it was completely worth it – the sky was absolutely incredible, with vivid green lights dancing overhead. It was one of those unforgettable travel moments that we’ll always remember!
If you want to step outside for an even better view, you can simply walk around the property between the rows of igloos to get a more open perspective of the sky. But honestly, watching the aurora from the warmth of our suite igloo’s hot tub or straight from our bed was the most magical way to experience it.
Restaurant Utsu
Restaurant Utsu is located inside the main building and has two distinct dining areas. The ground floor feels like a traditional Lappish restaurant, with a cozy atmosphere, wooden interiors, and a fireplace adding to the charm.
Upstairs, the first floor is a glass-walled dome that offers incredible panoramic views. It feels more like a fine dining restaurant, making it a great spot for a special meal.
Both levels serve the same menu, and you can request to dine in either when making a reservation.

Breakfast
Breakfast at Utsu is served buffet-style and had one of the best selections we’ve seen in Lapland. There was everything you’d want to start the day – fresh bread, cold cuts, cheese, smoked salmon, eggs, pastries, and more.
The quality of the food was excellent, and it really stood out compared to other hotel breakfasts we’ve had. It was a great way to fuel up before heading out to explore.
Lunch
Utsu also serves lunch with a set menu concept. You can choose between a two-course or three-course daily menu, with dishes changing regularly based on seasonal ingredients. Reservations are required, so it’s best to book in advance.
We had the three-course lunch, and it was fantastic. Every dish was well thought out, beautifully plated, and full of flavor. It felt refined but still comforting, making it a great choice if you’re looking for something a little more special than a quick bite in town.
Dinner
Dinner at Utsu is a full fine dining experience, with the option of a three-course or five-course menu that changes daily. The food here is on another level – it’s by far the best dining experience we’ve had in Lapland!
We went for the three-course dinner both nights, and every dish was perfectly cooked and presented like a work of art. You can really tell how much thought and care go into the ingredients and flavors.
On top of that, the staff were amazing. They were incredibly professional, but also warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better.
Since Utsu is a small, intimate restaurant, reservations are required for both lunch and dinner. If you’re staying at Levin Iglut, I’d highly recommend booking a meal here – it’s well worth it!

Final Thoughts
Our stay at Levin Iglut was absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived, everything felt special – the stunning location, the beautifully designed igloos, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s safe to say that this is by far our favorite place we’ve stayed in Lapland!
The prime superior igloo was already an amazing experience, but the suite igloo took it to a whole new level. Having a private hot tub with breathtaking views and even catching the northern lights while soaking in it was something we’ll never forget.
The attention to detail throughout the hotel, from the cozy yet luxurious accommodations to the exceptional dining at Utsu made our stay feel truly memorable.
If you’re looking for the ultimate glass igloo experience in Lapland, I can only recommend Levin Iglut. Everything about this place exceeded our expectations, and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back in the future.
