Sarakiniko Beach is one of the best beaches in Milos, and once you get here it’s easy to see why! With unique geological features, crystal clear shallow waters, and striking scenery – this beach has so much to offer.

It’s one of the most photographed locations on the island, and with its huge hollows and endless white rock, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped onto the moon.

However, be prepared to share this beach with plenty of crowds. The only way you’ll avoid this is by visiting early in the morning, or in the late afternoon.

This is the best time to visit Sarakiniko Beach not only because of the crowds but because it gets unpleasantly hot here during midday. The sun reflects off the white cliffs and there is no shade, so try to avoid visiting at this time. Sunsets are also fantastic here!

There isn’t much sand on the beach so if you’re looking to sunbathe for the day you’ll need to head up onto the rocks. If you’re up for an adventure, Sarakiniko is also a fantastic place for cliff jumping! You can also check out the nearby shipwreck which is located on the eastern side of Sarakiniko.

The best way to get to Sarakiniko Beach is by car. The beach is located about 10 kilometers from the town of Adamas. There is a large parking lot at the beach, but it can fill up quickly during peak season. If you’re visiting during summer, it’s best to arrive early to snag a spot.

Alternatively, you can take the local bus from Adamas to Sarakiniko Beach. The ride takes about 20 minutes, and the buses run regularly.

2. Fyriplaka Beach

How to get there: The best way to reach Fyriplaka is by hiring a car or ATV but you can get there via public transport too
Best time to visit: Early in the morning

Fyriplaka Beach is the second-most popular beach in Milos after Sarakiniko. It’s the perfect place to head out for a swim as the water is crystal clear, which also makes it great for snorkeling. 

Not only that, but with long stretches of pristine white sand, sun loungers, and a beach bar, it’s one of the best beaches in Milos if you’re looking to relax.

You’ll also be surrounded by dramatic scenery including a rocky outcrop that’s located about halfway along the beach. You can even swim right through it, which is pretty awesome! 

If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, then you can hire a kayak or stand-up paddleboard from Milos Watersports. 

The best way to reach Fyriplaka is by hiring a car or ATV. However, there is also a bus stop located at the top of the hill, so you can get there via public transport too.

Regardless of how you decide to get there, it’s best to go early in the morning if you want to grab a sun lounger or umbrella as this spot gets very busy throughout the day. Parking spots are quite limited as well so that’s another reason why you should get there early.

3. Tsigrado Beach

How to get there: If you don’t want to rent an ATV or car, then public buses also run to Tsigrado Beach
Best time to visit: Mid-morning to mid-afternoon
Facilities: As this is one of the most remote beaches in Milos, there are no facilities 

If you’re looking for remote beaches in Milos, then Tsigrado Beach is the place to visit. This small sandy beach is home to crystal clear waters and dramatic rock cliffs and is also one of the best places to snorkel on the island.

As there are no facilities here and access to the beach is difficult, it’s not one of the most family-friendly beaches on the island. The only way to reach it by foot is to climb down a wooden ladder which is a bit sketchy, so take your time on the way down! 

However, you can also go on a boat tour to Tsigrado Beach or hire a kayak from Fyriplaka, and head around the bay to reach it. 

Although this beach is difficult to access, it does offer a more exclusive experience as not everyone is prepared to climb down. Mid-morning to mid-afternoon is the best time to visit, as the sun is at its peak. If you visit during the late afternoon, the majority of the beach becomes shrouded in shade.

Since Tsigrado Beach is right next to Fyriplaka, it’s best to visit both beaches on the same day (unless you want to visit it on a boat tour which is definitely easier). They have the same bus stop and since they are within walking distance from each other, you only need to grab one parking spot.

4. Kleftiko

How to get there: Kleftiko Beach can only be accessed by taking a boat tour

Kleftiko is one of the least accessible beaches in Milos because it can only be reached by taking a boat tour. If you’re looking to visit the best beaches in Milos, then I’d recommend hopping on a boat out to this beautiful spot. No Milos itinerary is ever complete without visiting Kleftiko!

Luckily, many tour operators offer cruises and boat trips around the island that will take you to Kleftiko Beach. You can choose to go on a half-day boat trip to Kleftiko but if your schedule allows, it’s worth going for a full-day trip.

Starting from the port of Adamas, this Kleftiko sailing cruise is one of the best choices. It not only includes swimming and snorkeling at Kleftiko but you will also pass by many colorful fishing villages and unique rock formations along the way. Plus, a delicious Greek lunch is included as well!

If you’re looking to splurge, you can also go on a private boat tour to Kleftiko. This is especially a good choice if you’re traveling in a group of 4 and want to have the boat to yourselves. As a bonus, snorkeling equipment, SUP, and other sea toys are available on the boat!

5. Gerakas Beach

How to get there: Gerakas Beach can only be accessed by taking a boat trip 
Best time to visit: Anytime (it will depend on the schedule of your boat trip anyway)
Facilities: There are no facilities at Gerakas Beach 

Gerakas is another of Milos’ remote beaches, so naturally, it’s less popular than some of the big hitters that are easily accessible.

Located on the island’s south coast, you’ll need to head out on a boat trip to experience this beach’s charm. Many boat tours to Kleftiko include a stop at Gerakas but not all of them, so you need to be careful when booking your trip if you want to experience this secluded paradise.

Both this half-day morning cruise and this full-day sailboat cruise stop at Gerakas so you can’t go wrong with any of them. If you only want to visit Gerakas but not Kleftiko, this kayaking tour is a great option (it also includes Tsigrado Beach which is a nice bonus).

The boat tours will take you to Gerakas Bay, where you can jump into the crystal clear waters and swim towards the sandy beach. 

This area offers unparalleled beauty and the chance to admire the island’s dramatic scenery without the crowds. Not only that but there are no facilities available on Gerakas Beach, so it’s truly an unspoiled paradise.

6. Paleochori Beach

How to get there: By hiring a car or ATV, or using the public
Best time to visit: Any time of day
Facilities: Beach bars, restaurants, shops, toilets, watersports

Paleochori is one of the most beautiful beaches in Milos, and that’s partly due to its color. Instead of the usual white sand beaches found on Milos, the sand at Paleochori Beach is mixed in with colorful pebbles giving it a really unique color. 

The water here is a vivid turquoise color and is crystal clear making this spot perfect for swimming and snorkeling. If you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous, there are plenty of watersports on offer too. 

It’s best to visit the beach early morning if you’re looking to grab a sun lounger and beach umbrella. Otherwise, Paleochori Beach is great any time of day, although it does get pretty crowded.

The best way to reach Paleochori is by hiring a car or ATV, but you can also catch the public bus from Adamas.

Aside from the beach’s beauty, another highlight of this place is Sirocco, one of the best restaurants in Milos. This beachfront restaurant is famous for its delicious Greek cuisine and seafood dishes, as it cooks the food in a very unique way.

Certain dishes including lamb and fish are cooked under the sand through the island’s geothermal energy which makes this restaurant very unique.

7. Firopotamos Beach

Highlights: Charming fishing houses, dramatic scenery, crystal-clear waters 
How to get there: By hiring a vehicle or ATV (there is no bus connection)
Best time to visit: Midday
Facilities: Firopotamos doesn’t have any facilities

Although Firopotamos Beach is only small, its got a striking cliff backdrop and is home to crystal clear waters. It’s one of the most photogenic places on the island and is a photographer’s dream!

However, it’s not just the beach that will take your breath away. Firopotamos is home to several authentic fishing houses that are found across the front of the beach. 

It’s a pebble beach though so if you’re looking for a sandy beach, this one is not the best choice. There are no facilities at Firopotamos apart from a small snack bar that is sometimes there during the peak summer months.

Hiring a vehicle or ATV is the best way to reach Firopotamos. Public buses don’t serve this area, but they do stop off nearby at Triovasalos. From there it’s a 6-minute taxi journey or a 25-minute walk. 

You can visit any time of the day but the best time to visit is around midday when shadows aren’t cast onto the beach, and the sun is at its highest point. 

8. Plathiena Beach

Highlights: Turquoise waters, sheltered, less crowded.
How to get there: Only accessible by car or ATV
Best time to visit: Anytime
Facilities: Shower, toilet, small taverna

Plathiena Beach is located on the northern side of Milos and is one of the lesser-known beaches on the island. However, it’s one of the best beaches in Milos if you’re looking for a quiet experience as there aren’t many facilities here (so fewer crowds). 

The water here is a beautiful turquoise color, and the surrounding cliffs make for a stunning backdrop. Although Plathiena is a pebbled beach and it’s not the most comfortable, it’s great for families. 

It’s sheltered in a cove which means you’re protected from the wind and the waves tend to be much calmer. There are also some low-lying trees along the beach which provide shade. 

Buses don’t serve Plathiena Beach so it’s only accessible with a rental car or ATV. On the brighter side, the beach doesn’t tend to get too busy, so you can visit anytime. 

Regarding the facilities, there is a small shower and toilet area which comes in handy after a beach day. You won’t find many restaurants or beach bars near the beach but there is a small taverna that’s open during the summer months where you can get food and drink.

9. Papafragas Caves & Beach

Highlights: Natural caves, striking scenery, crystal clear waters
How to get there: Hiring a car is your best bet but you can also catch the bus to Pachena village and walk 5-minutes from there
Best time to visit: Anytime
Facilities: There are no facilities at Papafragas Beach 

When it comes to the best Milos beaches there are a few contenders, and Papafragas is up there at the top if you’re up for a little adventure. The scenery here is insane and if you visit on a clear and sunny day, you’ll truly be blown away. 

It’s almost like a huge cave has been carved out of the cliffside, and the waves below look like a natural swimming pool. You’ll want to walk along the headland to get stunning views of the beach first, before heading down. 

Now, this is the tricky part! The walk down to the beach can be pretty precarious so take your time. If you make it down, then there are plenty of sea caves in the area for you to explore but just be conscious of the weather and wave conditions.

The beach can be visited any time but try to head there on a clear, sunny day. You’ll also want to avoid the hike down to the beach if it’s very windy and wet. Safety first!

Papafragas Cave & Beach is only a 5-minute drive from Pollonia. You can also catch the bus to Pachena village and the beach is just a 5-minute walk from there.

10. Pollonia Beach

How to get there: Easily accessible by bus or car

Pollonia Beach is one of the most scenic beaches in Milos as it’s located right along a beautiful fishing village. Quaint whitewashed houses line the bay, and you’ll find plenty of tavernas here that offer stunning views of the Aegean Sea.

With plenty of facilities, large stretches of golden sands, and a relaxed vibe – Pollinia has something for everyone. However, it’s especially great for families with young children as there are lots of food options, public toilets, and trees to provide shade.

Pollina Beach is one of the most accessible beaches in Milos as public buses run there regularly. If you’re looking to grab a sun lounger then head to Pollonia early, otherwise, it’s a great beach to visit any time of the day.

Whether you’re simply looking to relax or explore the area, allow yourself at least a couple of hours here to truly appreciate the beauty of Pollonia. 

11. Papikinou Beach

Highlights: Quiet, relaxed atmosphere, sandy beach
How to get there: You can easily get there by car or ATV, or you can even walk from Adamas
Best time to visit: Any time of the day
Facilities: Restaurants nearby, changing cabins

Papikinou Beach is one of two beaches located in Adamas and is easily accessible. The beach is just a 20-minute walk from the port town of Adamas. If you’re staying elsewhere, you’ll find plenty of public buses running to the town, and then you can just walk from there. 

It’s one of the more underrated beaches in Milos so you won’t often find crowds of people here which means you can visit any time of the day. That makes it the perfect spot to relax on a sun lounger and do a bit of sunbathing after a long day of sightseeing! 

Papikinou Beach is also great for families with shallow waters, trees for shade, and a sheltered location. It’s primarily a sandy beach but you will find pebbles dotted around so it’s best to bring some sort of footwear like flip-flops. 

O! Hamos! Tavern is also located just across the road from Papikinou and is one of the most popular restaurants in Milos. You’ll also get stunning views of the harbor and Adamas in the distance!

12. Agia Kiriaki Beach

How to get there: The beach is only accessible via a rental vehicle
Best time to visit: Anytime
Facilities: Beachfront restaurants & tavernas, rental boats, excursions

Agia Kiriaki Beach is located on the southern side of the island and is known for its crystal clear waters, rocky landscape, and white sands (& pebbles). 

Now, when I say the water is clear, I mean it! You can literally see everything, so make sure you pack some snorkeling gear if you’re heading to this beach. Agia Kiriaki Beach is also great for watersports if you’re looking for a bit of adventure. 

If you’re simply looking to relax, sunbathe, and head out for a swim, then Agia Kiriaki Beach is the perfect place as well. Feel free to wander along the beach but there are a couple of private coves that are specifically for naturists. 

Unfortunately, hiring a car or ATV is the only way to reach Agia Kiriaki (it’s accessible via a road from Zephyria). Thanks to this, you won’t find any crowds on this beach meaning you can visit any time of the day.

13. Provatas Beach

How to get there: You can reach Provatas Beach either by rental or public transport

Provatas Beach is one of the lesser-known beaches in Milos, making it one of the best hidden gems on the island. Although it may not have the popularity of Sarakiniko Beach or Fyriplaka Beach, it’s got plenty to offer. 

You’ll find several restaurants near the beachfront that serve tasty Greek food and refreshing drinks – perfect for a day relaxing in the sun. 

With golden sands, turquoise waters, and looming cliffs, the scenery here is spectacular and you won’t have to worry about the crowds either (well, compared to other beaches in this guide). 

However, the highlight of visiting Provatas Beach? It’s home to the shallowest waters in Milos so you can literally walk out into the sea and head around the outcrop to the next bay. 

As it’s sheltered from the wind too, you won’t have to worry about rough waves. There’s also plenty of shade if you need a break from the sun. 

The only thing to note is that the stretch of beach isn’t very big so when it gets busy during the peak season, there aren’t many places to sunbathe.

14. Achivadolimni Beach

Achivadolimni is quite possibly the longest beach on the island as its white sands seem to stretch on endlessly! The sea here is a vivid turquoise color and the waters are crystal clear so make sure you bring your snorkeling gear with you. 

Although you won’t find many facilities here, that only adds to the magic of this place. You can just enjoy the peace and quiet without having to worry about the crowds. There is a naturalist part of this beach too if you’re looking to get a bit closer to nature!
